CCI Thermal Technologies has donated $10,000 to support The Sharing Place food bank’s Kids Zone brown-bag lunch snack kit program.
Each month, the program provides healthy lunch and snack food kits to more than 600 school-aged children from low-income families. Care is taken to ensure there is no stigma for kit recipients — snacks are in the original manufacturers’ packaging, making their lunches indistinguishable from those of their peers. The program also encourages choice, as children and their parents decide what items from the kit go into the lunch bag each day.
“CCI Thermal and its employees have been supporters of The Sharing Place for a number of years,” said Robert Hart, general manager of the CCI Thermal Orillia facility. “We are pleased to be able to provide this top-up to the ongoing fundraising we do for The Sharing Place.”
The Sharing Place has been operating since 1988, is a member of the Ontario Association of Food Banks and is Orillia’s largest and busiest food bank. More information can be found at sharingplaceorillia.org.
