Filter demineralizers are used to remove dissolved radionuclides from condensate water, reactor coolant water and fuel pool water. Filter demineralizers are an alternative to deep bed ion exchange columns in applications where the dissolved ion concentration is low. A filter demineralizer is a filter equipped with special septa over which a specially-formulated powdered resin is pre-coated. As the contaminated water flows through the precoat, both the ion exchange and filtration processes occur in one step.
